York Agricultural and Horticultural College , Askham Bryan , and Yorkshire plant greenhouse , Accredited Supplier Johnsons of Whixley , have collaborated to create a newfangled bespoke 12 - week horticultural training class .

Lyndon Johnson , one of the UK ’s ahead industrial plant nurseries , is located just 12 miles from Askham Bryan College and first contacted the brass in early spring 2023 regarding a training partnership to assure its employees stay at the forefront of horticultural noesis through specialised training .

The two arrangement have been ferment together since the 1970s , with Johnsons supply work placements and the college provide horticultural course for its staff . Andrew Johnson chairwoman , John Richardson , was also a regulator at Askham for twenty twelvemonth .

The course , ' An foundation to Horticulture , ' will provide employees from Johnsons the chance to broaden their knowledge in various aspects of horticulture , from plant identification to planting localisation and the impact of industrial plant choices , with a mixed bag of practical and theoretic tests .
