First of all , what is a Herbaria , and why is it so crucial ?

Simply put , a Herbaria is a accumulation of dried and preserved plant species – a great place to study plant in nature .

TheHarvard University Herbariais located on the grounds of   Harvard , and contains over 5 million specimen in six solicitation :   plants , mosses , fungi , lichens , bryophytes , and alga .

The HUH was founded in 1842 by Asa Gray . He led the effort to catalogue and stock-taking North American plant life , which included expeditions to the westerly U.S.   He chop-chop grew the aggregation through a combination of field excursion and collaboration with other part world - wide .
