1. Turk’s cap
Name:Malvaviscus arboreusvar.drummondiiand cvs.
USDA Hardiness Zones:7 to 11
Size:4 foot tall and wide
precondition : Full sunshine to full wraith ; tolerates most grunge

There are two reason why I have to have Turk ’s cap . First , it ca n’t be killed ; native to the coastal southeast United States , this perennial is as tough as they come . Second , it draw more hummingbirds than all of the other flowers in my garden combine . hummingbird and S mash flock to its turbanlike flowers , specially in dusk . It also does n’t hurt that Turk ’s cap has a profuseness of perverted , crimson - orange flowers from late spring until Robert Lee Frost . When the leafage dies back after the first rime , abbreviate the entire plant to the soil . Although Turk ’s crownwork is adapted to sunshine and shade , plants in the sun run to grower taller and more impenetrable .
2. Sweet Olive
Name:Osmanthus fragrans
Zones:8 to 11
Size:15 understructure tall and 10 ft wide
Conditions : Full sun to partial tad ; loamy , well - drain soil

This native of China boasts flyspeck pick - colored flowers in fall and spring . Though low , it is one of my favorite fragrant plants — most beloved of all southerly flowers — command only a few to scent an entire garden . This evergreen have an first-class small specimen tree diagram or can be sheared into a o.k. hedge . In stale climates , it can be grow in container and add in for wintertime .
3. Coral Honeysuckle
Name:Lonicera sempervirens
Zones:4 to 9
Size : intertwine to 15 foot
Conditions : Full Lord’s Day to fond wraith ; tolerates most dirt

This hardy , pair vine has tubelike , ruddy - orange blooms in spring and scattered blooms throughout the remainder of the time of year . It is aboriginal to the eastern United States and is less vigorous than the encroaching Japanese Banksia integrifolia , which is gobbling up its former habitat . Though not fragrant , it ’s a must - have industrial plant for nature lover like myself because the flashy flowers attract hummingbird and then spring showy , red - orange berries that feed bluebirds and other songbird . Its attractive semievergreen leaves are blue - green ( shaded purple with new growth ) .
4. American Wisteria
Name:Wisteria frutescens
Zones:5 to 9
Size : Twining to 30 human foot
Most nurseryman are only mindful of the strong-growing and sometimes invasive Formosan and Japanese wisterias , but I love their less aggressive twin : the American wisteria . This twining , deciduous vine is native along rivers and in swamps of the southeastern United States , flowering after spring foliage appears , with casual echo bloom throughout the maturate season . The typical lilac - purple peak have a light fragrance . It ’s an excellent plant life for fencing , arbors , and pergola .
