A garden 40 years in the making
Welcome to Ray and Mary Ann Fontaine ’s garden in Brimfield , Massachusetts .
We have been garden for 43 years . We havehostasfor our shady area , grasses , astilbes , many shrubs , hydrangea , andconifers . Begonias are our favoriteannualsfor color , as they are sturdy and last until frost .
We have many birds in spring who worry thisbirdhouse . We also have four more birdhouse around the property and three hummingbird feeders .

We plantAlaska nasturtiums(Tropaeolum majus‘Alaska ’ , annual ) in a container on the deck of cards each twelvemonth . In the center are white scaevola(Scaevolaaemula , annual ) , which we grow from seed .
genus Funka are establish along the rock paries around our pool . Red ‘ Dragon Wing ’ begonias(Begonia‘Dragon Wing ’ , yearly ) grow in the whiskey barrelful in the midriff of the pool garden .
When we bought our sign of the zodiac this large rock was in our front yard , so we made a flower garden surrounding it . We put in many small conifers and perennials . Rudbeckiasandastersgive color in the fall , and our best-loved begonia in white and pink give us summertime color .

This side threshold is never used , so we planted our shade - loving annual in pots and decorated the stairs forsummer color .
bay window of annuals fulfill the deck with petunias(Petunia× hybrida ) , calibrachao(Calibraochoahybrids ) , red and odoriferous geraniums(Pelargoniumhybrids ) , and herbs .
Rhododendronsandazaleas(Rhododendronspecies and hybrids , Zones 5–9 ) fill the thou with colouration in the spring .

We put this pond in 15 years ago . It is in fly-by-night sphere , so on hot summer days we relax and enjoy the sound of urine spill over the waterfalls . The pool area is planted with hostas , grass , andshade - loving perennial .
This is our side - yard garden , planted with rhubarb(Rheum rhabarbarum , Zones 3–9),butterfly bushes(Buddleia davidii , Zones 5–9),kousa dogwood(Cornus kousa , Zones 5–8),hydrangeas(Hydrangea macrophylla , Zones 6–9 ) , and green goddess .
A hops vine(Humuluslupulus , Zones 4–9 ) develop on the wooden arch , surrounded by perennials and yearbook and conifers . A 50×50vegetable gardenis inside the picket fencing , where we grow many varieties ofheirloom tomatoes , squashes , beans , cuke , and herb .
