Mayday in the Garden.

I am a   daylight belatedly I ’m afraid , forHelen‘s    End of the Month View , but here is my vista of the garden on the 1st of May .

Here we are standing with our back to the house and I ’d care to take you for a stroll round . To the right of us is the tears pear tree which I keep form . Under it there are snowdrops in wintertime , red tulip in other Spring and in former Summer I turn whiteImpatiens . To the right wing , under thePrunus‘Pink drawers ’ there is the trivial pond unit of ammunition which I always have pots of seasonal plants to protect the fish from the heron who police every morning . TheAceris planted here and there is a bog garden which I will show you afterwards this month when it will be looking its good .

The bed   in front of the wall is a shady bed for winter and spring interest .

The trillium are still going strong and low flowers areLunaria annua‘Corfu Blue ’ which is a lovely Honesty which is Modern to me this twelvemonth .

Along a scrap to the logic gate which I project for a late garden and had made up by a local blacksmith . I had to have the col in the bulwark made a bite bigger to accommodate it . On the left is aSkimmiawithAzara serratabehind which I acquire from a cutting . To the right there is myAzara microphyllawith a goldenPhiladelphusin front . If we walk through it we can see the view from the other side .

The Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree is a greengage tree . If we count down from here , we can see the nursery where all my seedlings and cuttings endure . One day I will tidy it up a bit so that I can show you inside .

If you look the other means there are two very old orchard apple tree tree diagram which have lovely stick-in-the-mud bark . I will let you have a peek in the other nursery because I use it to display whatever is looking good at the moment . If we convey on the track here it would take us past the sure-enough stables which I use as sheds and then on to the old pool and finally to my Modern winter garden . This path is in need of a kempt up , so for today we will go round the other means . The Camassias are put on their all too brief appearance . The lily-livered flowers areEuphorbia robbiaewhich is very invasive but quite pretty in spring . I have the tree diagram peony , Paeonia gansuhere which I grow from ejaculate 7 or 8 years ago . Last yr it had its first flower . This year there are 4 bud . We had good construct our steps a bit because I have n’t shown you the bed in front of the rampart , the other side from the old Malus pumila tree diagram .

Erythroniumsdo well here . The lilac bloom isLunaria rediviva . The tree to the leftover   is a mulberry tree and the scandalmongering rose ‘ Canary Bird ’ is just coming into flower .   At the back of this seam there is an old brick path ; it is overgrown with ego - seededAngelicaat the mo , but one day I will clear it up . TheUvulariain the next word-painting is a dainty little thing , but I see   a much bigger , darker yellow one in Beth Chatto ’s garden last hebdomad , calledUvulariagrandiflora .   MyUvulariais growing with whiteDicentra,(I have it off , I know , it ’s not called that any more , but you have a go at it what I mean . ) The deep blue isOmphalodes verna .

If we carry on our journeying down   the garden ,   we get to theWisteriawhich I am trying to condition as a criterion . It is grown from a layered spell of the one in my previous garden . The tired looking Lavenderis part of theLavender‘Hidcote ’ hedge which I have plant all round the terrace in front of the summerhouse . I have n’t crop it well enough , so this year I will take cuttings and initiate again . If we carry on down the garden there is my young wintertime garden on the right wing , but you have seen enough of that lately . The Narcissus pseudonarcissus have land up blooming in the orchard but the buttercups are in efflorescence and the apple and pear blossom are   out . Soon there will be a froth of cow parsley behind these trees .

In my vegetable raise beds there is chard , potatoes and broad beans . Next year I will be capable to take off cutting the edible asparagus . My scarecrow is still in hibernation in the shed . This is turning out to be such a recollective post , so let ’s hurry back down towards the house , past the summerhouse which is look very tatty , but it is go to be painted next month , so I will show you this area then . In the long bedAcer brilliantissimumis seem fabulous . TheAmelanchiernext to it has polish off flowering but it is getting its young bronze leaves . Behind is a Whitebeam , Sorbus ariaand to the other side isMalus‘Golden Hornet’My other seed grownPaeonia Gansuis also in bud here . This one has shell pink bloom .

Last yr I saw tulips growing amongstTellima grandifloraand as I have a drift of this , I thought I would put tulips here . Persil - whiteExorchorda x macrantha‘The Bride ’ is such a lovely works . It looks large with blueOmphalodesverna . I care to have white brightening up the spook and the white variegated Honesty , Lunaria annua‘Alba variegata ’ is perfect for this , along with the viridiflora tulip ‘ Spring unripe ’

I will cease this farsighted military post now and save some other areas for another time . I hope you have savour the stroll round my garden . give thanks you to Helen , thePatient Gardenerfor host this meme .

What a adorable wander round your beautiful garden Chloris . There is so much to see I ’m going to read it again . I get word some stunning magnolias at Winkworth Arboretum yesterday and view of your late mail . They looked so at dwelling growing in woodland , much better than when rise as single specimen .

Just grotesque
