In a Vase on Monday. ‘Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May’.
possibly I should have call this post’Gather Ye Canary Birds While Ye May’because I have used the lovely little Canary Bird Rose , always the first to flower in my garden .
It makes a lovely shrub covered in buttery- yellowish single flowers . Mine has Malus pumila blossom behind it which make a perfect May picture in my brain .

I have added someTellima grandifloraand for fragrance I have used Honeysuckle and the sweetly scented littleNarcissus‘Sun Disc ’ which play off the stand up perfectly . Both the rose and the piffling jugful seemed to demand the statute title for this arrangement . And on the other side - I love the way that Canary Bird matches the colour of this vase so well . My other early flowering rose , the climbingRosa banksiae‘Lutea ’ is not quite out yet . I saw it in Tuscany late looking superb . I mean it needs plenty of sunlight to bloom really well . It arise rampantly though ; my 7 year old cutting has reach the top of a large orchard apple tree tree diagram .
I have bought two new early flowering roses this year . One is like to Canary Bird but has much deeper jaundiced flowers . I saw it several years ago in a friend ’s garden and I have covet it ever since . It is calledRosa‘Helen Knight ’ . It is a seedling of the wildRosa ecae .

The other early- flowering get up is one I find in a garden last year , when I was in Herefordshire for the Gardens in the Wild Festival . It is a single rosebush , ( I screw single rose ) and it is calledRosa odorata‘Bengal Beauty ’ . It start out blossom in May and rifle on and on . The bloom in the photo is just going over but there are plenty of bud to fare . LikeRosa mutabilisthis rose has someChinensisin its breeding and it has a similar habit .

So here we have my first roses . There are plenitude of rosebud to get next calendar month and so I shall be out there gathering rosebud again before long . But unlike my cheery figures on the vase , I shall credibly be wearing wearing apparel . After all roses are a scrap prickly .

Fabulous rise and perfect color for that vase … how adorable to have roses up with daffs … .I will have to wait for a while longer as the rosiness are just produce now . Been too inhuman .
‘ Canary Bird ’ is well - named ! Your vase brims with good cheer . I ’ve always look up to the yellow Lady Banks rose , which my mother - in - law maturate successfully . I did n’t have the ripe place for it in my old fishy garden but I probably have enough sun to grow it here , although its weewee needs might be a job . It ’s always something …
