I have to admit , growing up , I had no theme that you could make your own baking mixture .

I never saw the motivation to because we always had a box of Bisquick in our kitchen pantry . Mom would draw it out and make the adept pancakes , waffles , biscuits and even dumplings with the element in that wizardly chicken box seat .

As like most baby do , I follow in the footsteps of my parent and purchased and used it just like they did .

That was until I unfortunately ran out in the heart of making dinner . I was making a casserole that called for a Bisquick topping . I did n’t have time to run to the store so I turned the box over and looked at the Ingredients .

Wow ! Was I shocked that there were so many ingredients name .   I sort through what I had on hired hand and with just 5 common ingredients , I had made my own baking mix !

My first endeavor I used butter instead of shortening . That command me to keep the baking mix in the refrigerator or deep-freeze . That worked for awhile , but my space was limited .

So I flip to using shortening in this formula so that it could be stored in my pantry rather . I put it in an breeze - tight container and whenever a formula calls for ‘ Bisquick ’ I use my own baking mixture with a 1:1 ratio . And for a healthier interlingual rendition – use coconut meat oil alternatively of shortening !

Best part of all is that it can be made in minutes with your food central processor . Just pulsate the ingredients together and you are all done !
