Camelias and more bloom on after a storm

Today Amy is sharing how her garden has recovered after twister damage a couple years ago .

The left side of this bed fall back a huge Leyland cypress(Cupressus × leylandii , zona 6–10 ) and a 125 - substructure - tall pine tree tree diagram . On the positive side , it unwrap some gorgeous camellia we had n’t realized were there . We filled in the disruption with three mellifluous osmanthus(Osmanthus fragrans , Zones 7–9 ) and a line of ‘ Winter Gem ’ boxwoods(Buxus‘Winter Gem ’ , Zones 6–8 ) planted in a nonlinear line to give awoodlandeffect . Mature , surviving plant in here include many camellia , and aLoropetalum(Zones 7–10 ) my husband cut into a tree diagram . In the late fall I imbed some lady ’s mantle(Alchemillamollis , Zones 3–8 ) to line the bound of the border . I ca n’t look to see how it looks this summer .

This border was as full and matured as my first picture . It got wiped out from a huge Carya illinoinsis tree(Carya illinoinensis , Zones 5–9 ) , and the only thing that outlive was a clump of upright plum yew(Cephalotaxusharringtonia‘Fastigiata ’ , zone 6–9 ) . As with the previous border , behind it was a wonder of midget leaf azaleas that bloomed with C of little bright pink flower as well as camellias anddogwoodswe had n’t detect or enjoyed before . The vacuous - slate front half was intimidate for me , and I star at it for months , not certain how to sate or harness it . My husband and I ended up at a garden centre in December 2020 and catch a gorgeous ‘ Ikandi’Japanese maple(Acer palmatum‘Ikandi ’ , Zones 5–9 ) whose human body was stunning even without leaves . We took a jump and bought the Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree along with some big Englishboxwoods(Buxus sempervirens , Zones 5–8 ) . We lay out them out in their potentiometer in the bed and moved them around until we like the arrangement , then plant them . It instantly gave me a body structure to base the border on . I then kept found , buy plants almost monthly , and filling in with mostlyevergreensat first . This past fall and wintertime I ’ve been embed a ton of flowers . I have no thought how they will look , but I ’m excited for this approaching fountain and summer to see what works and what does n’t .

This sphere was hard even before the tornado , and the landscape architect gave me vivid approximation and design the bluestone steps that we had installed . Our garden shed was old and untempting , and because of the ruin delimitation above we had a clean eyeshot of it from the planetary house . Since we did n’t desire the added disbursal of replacing it , the landscape painting designer intimate painting the shed and designed the bluestone stairs and gravel itinerary around it . My married man put a whole stain on the shed and four planters we already had . After a lucky breakthrough of the antique metal trellises from a little dress shop garden store , and two inexpensive whisky cask planter from a giving - box seat retail merchant , a distressing expanse became a design feature .

We were fortunate that the back hill was mostly unharmed . you may see the hugesaucer magnolia(Magnolia × soulangeana , Zones 5–9 ) flower on the left wing . My hubby and I used the remnant bluestone from the landscapers to put in a bluestone path up the hill .

The remaining pic are some of the stunning camellias(Camelliaspecies and hybrids , Zones 7–10 ) in rosiness . This is the variety ‘ Allie Blue ’ .
