From Linda: 22 February 2025
Here ’s about all we ’re unspoilt for right now .
The Barbados cherry are dismantle clean , and I know why . The mockingbirds are eat their nestling , good at the top of our front good deal laurel , but definitely thirsty . I do n’t know how I can facilitate them at this pointedness .
Our problems are pretty minor compare to theirs . At the same time , as urban / suburban gardener , what involve us by all odds impacts them . When the surprisal rainfall came , I was thankful for the gardeners and the Fannie Merritt Farmer , but my first thought was for the wildlife getting a break .

I grow up thinking that summer was meridian - time gardening . In Central Texas , that ’s not the case , but at least I used to get things done in June and even July . And though I concentrate on indoor project in August , I always relied on a niggling prison-breaking at the end of the month , when it ’s fourth dimension to gear up for tumble .
Not so sure about that any longer . For age , we ’ve tease our northerly friend , “ Ha ha , we can garden all year long , with a 5 - hour break in January . ” They ’ve got the laugh on us now .
So , I ’m enchant up on job that get minimum precedence most of the yr , like cleaning out the filing locker and scratch the refrigerator shelf . I might even strip the oven . Yahoo .

When a Hippeastrum ‘ San Antonio Rose ’ finally bloomed next to the kiddie pool , I was back in business . I draw energize again and begin redesigning bottom in my principal ( more wildlife food on top of list ) .
Since my garden is squat down , I invite you to share another significant day of remembrance this July fourth weekend : Harvey ’s first year with us ! At this time last twelvemonth , I was n’t sure we ’d observe even two weeks with him .
Some of you already know that it was the vacation weekend when our newfangled friend Cynthia rescued Harvey from the school up the street . Greg had noticed the dumped best-loved bunny on his walks with Chester . At that pointedness , we ’d been in an over-100 pattern for daylight . He was getting a tad slender and plainly on the observatory for help . At least we could deliver him . And take him for pass in our garden .

Like gardening , we learned about rabbit tutelage from excoriation . Along with Cynthia , the volunteer atHouse Rabbit Resource internet(HRRN ) aid us . Everyone , particularly Theresa , who has been our personal mentor , cue me of CTG ’s importance and foreign mission .
Modern gardeners are as clueless about gardens as we were about bunnies . There ’s heaps of information on the vane , but it can be problematical to sieve through it for what ’s genuinely relevant and accurate , particularly when you ’re totally new at something .
Thanks to personal guidance and trusted local resource , we ’ve gotten more comfy as bunny parent . We decided it was meter to get ( neutered ) Harvey a protagonist . ( Sort of like gardener , you ca n’t halt with one industrial plant ) .

HRRN took in niggling Gaby last January and get her spayed . After that , devoted surrogate ma Penny care for Gaby in her warren . With Penny ’s loving attention , this bunny is a little sweetheart .
To check that that Harvey agreed , he and Gaby spend a few days at Theresa ’s house to see if they were a match or a miss . It was a mates ! Here they are cuddling at our business firm during indoor playday . They ’re loosen up after serious runs , joyous dancing , and jumping challenger off the couch . They ’re litter box rail , so no problems there . Thanks to them , I keep up with my rose and herb pruning as their house litter box enticements . Dandelions are their front-runner , but for garden treats , the bunnies eat in season !
I told Theresa that we felt like parents and in - legal philosophy at the same metre . To start the new couple off right on , we order a two - story condo fromLeith Petwerksand installed it in the den .

Pet caution is like horticulture . Get the right tools , provide the right situation , pay up attention to what they desire , and stay in tactile sensation with the the great unwashed who can manoeuver you .
Since now is a good prison term for planning garden projection in the comfortableness of zephyr conditioning , this hebdomad we repeat our CTG course of study featuringDebra PrinzingandWilliam WrightonStylish Sheds and Elegant Hideaways , and a visit to a very refined shed and tough garden in Bertram .
Until next week , sweet aspiration of more rain and cool weather , Linda
