A gardener moves—and keeps her garden
Today ’s exposure are of Gail Cortese ’s young garden . let to downsize from a with child , dear garden is unmanageable , but these pictures make it clear that you’re able to go from a tumid place to a small one without give having a fantastic , flower - filled space !
We lived on five area acres on the Union Olympic Peninsula of Washington state for almost 25 years . Age and health demanded we sell out and relocate to a smaller piazza . However , I told my husband that I would n’t go if I could n’t take my house and garden with me ! We located a unexampled developing on a hillside 35 miles east where there was n’t so much rain , in the little township of Sequim . We found a nice corner heap that had outer space for a courteous small edition of my old English garden , and the builder agreed that I could plan my household to fit . I divided my beloved perennial , located nurseries where I could observe the rose I had left behind ( since I could n’t dig up my rosebush ) , and thus began the move !
We have been here now for three yr . The garden are thrive so well that our local garden order fare to visit and loved it !

Here are a few photos of our lovely little garden . What was Brierwood Farm became Brierwood Cottage .
The new bungalow . It does n’t sit on a big farm , but there is a lot of beaut in this fiddling lot .
The style is Greco-Roman English bungalow garden , full of soft , romantic perennials and roses .

Blossoms glowing in the sun .
Could anything be more romantic than an informal gravel path surround by abundant blossom ?
brilliant California poppies ( Eschscholzia californica , yearly ) bloom like sunshine you’re able to touch .

It is hard to think that this garden is only three long time quondam ; it already face so full and mature . I trust Gail will air us an update in a few years to see how it go on to evolve !
