Today ’s photos are from Ellen Kirby in North Carolina . We toured her garden back in 2012 ( refresh your memoryHERE . )
Today she says,“Here is a aggregation of photos from ourFood Bank Gardenin Winston - Salem . We imbed flowers throughout the field to appeal pollinators and to beautify the garden .
Last twelvemonth we had about 300 volunteer , including the most active ones who helped an average of two hour a workweek . We harvested over 5000 lbs . in 2013 and 10,000 in 2012 . Weather does make a difference .

I imagine this is a sound example of how to uprise vegetable and melon vine and how to make a departure for hungry the great unwashed . Our area has one of the highest part of baby hunger in the USA . Our garden has been acquire since 1998 and was one of the first gardens for a nutrient bank in the land . Everything we produce goes to Second Harvest Food Bank which then distribute to 8 counties in northwest North Carolina . ”
Thanks so much for the follow - up , Ellen ! I so look up to you for this entire attempt . It ’s fruitful AND beautiful !
